So far, at least 100 million KPM are registered in the DTKS, including 1.040 million people with disabilities.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Social Affairs Minister Tri Rismaharini has highlighted the attempts of the Indonesian government to handle social issues at the Ministerial Conference of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Cairo, Egypt.

She stated that her staff regularly improved the Integrated Social Welfare Data (DTKS) by collecting detailed data on the beneficiary families (KPM) of the Social Affairs Ministry’s social protection and security programs to expedite the alleviation of poverty, as quoted from a statement released on Thursday.

"So far, at least 100 million KPM are registered in the DTKS, including 1.040 million people with disabilities,” she noted, at the conference which was themed Social Justice and Social Security and attended by representatives from 40 countries.

The Social Affairs Ministry recorded that there were 10 million KPM in the Family Hope Program (PKH) and 18.8 million beneficiaries of the Basic Commodity Assistance Program registered in the DTKS.
Furthermore, the data is also used to determine the fund’s assistance recipients (PBIs) of the National Health Insurance (JKN) Program, the minister added.

Her staff also collaborated with the local governments and state-owned postal company, PT Pos Indonesia, to distribute direct cash assistance (BLT) for fuel and cooking oil.

In addition, the ministry provided business assistance and entrepreneurial capacity building training on culinary, handicrafts, goods and services, agriculture, and plantations sectors, called the Nusantara Economic Heroes (PENA) program, to increase the economic capacity of impoverished people.

The program had been attended by 10,000 families throughout Indonesia by 2022.

Meanwhile, to improve the welfare of marginalized groups, the ministry built two five-storey apartment buildings. The government has planned to establish 14 more apartment buildings in eight locations throughout Indonesia.

The ground floor of each building is prioritized to be used by the elderly or persons with disabilities. Each flat can be rented, starting from Rp10,000 (US$0.67) per month.

Furthermore, the Social Affairs Ministry had established the Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) Creative Center to increase the economic independence of persons with disabilities.

The ministry also provided adaptive walking sticks with innovative features, such as heat, running water, and hazardous chemical detectors, as well as a Global Positioning System (GPS) device to improve the accessibility of persons with disabilities.

Further, Rismaharini said the government had carried out mass cataract surgery programs, including for children.

"Every time the mass surgery is implemented, at least 300 children are examined and undergo surgery," she said.

The minister noted that her staff had also freed more than 8,000 people from stocks.

Furthermore, the government attempted to increase public awareness regarding the rights of persons with disabilities through the Indonesia Hears, Indonesia Sees, and Indonesia Moves program.

Regarding disaster mitigation, the ministry established large-scale evacuation centers and social granaries, as well as provided buffer stocks in the granaries.

Currently, there are 484 granaries in 544 sub-districts of 145 districts and cities throughout 29 provinces in Indonesia.

The ministry also had 39,000 emergency response personnel (Tagana) who were trained to be able to respond quickly to emergencies.

The Social Affairs Ministry also established Disaster Alert Villages in 936 locations in 34 provinces.
