The indicator is the completeness percentage of hydrometeorological and tectonic disasters early warning systemJakarta (ANTARA) - The budget for 2024 focuses on developing the environment, improving disaster resiliency, and increasing climate change adaptation, according to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).
"(For) the theme and the course of the 2024 Government Work Plan (RKP), specifically, the BMKG supports the National Priority No. 6, namely developing the environment, improving disaster resiliency, and (increasing) climate change (adaptation capacities)," BMKG Head Dwikorita Karnawati stated here, Thursday.
There are three main targets in the field of Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics (MKG) within the 2024 RKP's initial plan, she revealed during the hearing meeting (RDP) with the House of Representatives' Commission V.
One of the targets is to increase the speed of disaster early warning information delivery to the public.
The government aims to increase the speed of information delivery to three minutes for 2024, from 3.5 minutes in 2023, she explained.
The second target is improving the early warning system and response supported by disaster risk preparedness and reduction as well as institutional capacity and coordination improvement in disaster mitigation.
"The indicator is the completeness percentage of hydrometeorological and tectonic disasters early warning system. The target is 100 percent, for this year, (though) it is still 96 percent," he stated.
The third target encompasses improving the accuracy of meteorological and climatological information. The accuracy of meteorological information is targeted to reach 91 percent, while the target for the accuracy of climatological information is 83 percent.
On the occasion, Karnawati also noted that the course of BMKG's policies for the 2020-2024 period is aimed at making it a world-class agency, with a socio-entrepreneurship spirit.
One of the strategic issues for the 2020-2024 policy course comprises the demand for quality and competitive human resources to handle the challenges of the disruption era toward realizing a world-class BMKG.
Another strategic issue involves becoming an efficient organization and be able to adapt quickly to various developments in science, technology, and the strategic environment.
The other strategic issue is the need for fast and accurate meteorological, climatology, and geophysical information services that have a wide reach and are easy to understand based on the people's needs.
"Other strategic issues comprise the BMKG operational equipment infrastructure strengthening and development and the need for integrated data to support information service," she noted.
Karnawati also stated that BMKG's indicative ceiling for the 2024 Budget Year is Rp2.769 trillion.
"The fund source for this BMKG's indicative ceiling comes from pure rupiah, non-tax state revenue (PNBP), and overseas loan," Karnawati stated.
