Everything certainly requires the support of a large supply of electrical energyPalangka Raya, C Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The government has targeted all villages in Central Kalimantan to have electricity installed by the state-owned electricity company, PLN, by 2024.
"The ratio of villages with PLN electrification in Central Kalimantan as of March 2023 is 71.87 percent or 442 villages without PLN electricity out of 1,571 villages," said the Regional Secretary of Central Kalimantan Nuryakin in Palangka Raya, Friday.
In 2023, he noted, 125 villages are targeted to have electricity so that the ratio can increase to 82.88 percent and it is targeted that in the future all villages in the province will have 100 percent electricity.
He added that currently, the construction of a power plant and PLN's network is operating well, as is evidenced by the condition of Central Kalimantan's electricity, which has been interconnected with South Kalimantan-Central Kalimantan-East Kalimantan system with an electricity supply power of 1,846 MW (MegaWatt).
However, the peak load was recorded at 1,391 MW, so that it has a surplus power capable of 455 MW.
Furthermore, PLN's ability to serve electricity needs in Central Kalimantan, he said, is becoming stronger with the operation of four 150 KV (KiloVolt) substations, including Kuala Pemburan with a capacity of 30 MVA (Mega Volt Ampere), Sukamara with a capacity of 30 MVA, Nanga Bulik with a capacity of 30 MVA, and Kuala Kurun at 30 MVA.
Nuryakin said that Central Kalimantan is intensively carrying out development in various sectors, including the electricity sector, because electricity is very important and plays a strategic role in realizing national and regional development goals.
"So the provision of sufficient, quality, affordable, and sustainable electrical energy is a big responsibility that we must realize together," he said.
Moreover, he noted, strategic development programs are also underway in Central Kalimantan, such as infrastructure development, industry downstream, Hanau Regional Hospital, food estate, shrimp estate, and plans to establish regional excellence-based vocational colleges.
"Everything certainly requires the support of a large supply of electrical energy," he said.
