Jakarta (ANTARA) - A clean energy company based in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has expressed interest in exploring investment in the new capital Nusantara (IKN) after visiting the IKN development site.

"Alhamdulillah (Praise be to God), we received one LoI (Letter of Intent) from Masdar, one of the companies in the field of renewable energy," the Director of Funding at the IKN Authority, Insyafiah, said in a statement released on Wednesday.

Masdar is a company that focuses on the development, investment, and operation of renewable energy projects.

The company is developing future energy technologies, such as solar energy, wind energy, hydro energy, and waste energy, to produce clean and sustainable energy.

This aligns with IKN's vision to develop a sustainable city through the management of clean resources to realize its net-zero emission target by 2045.

Representatives from several UAE-based companies visited Nusantara recently. They were accompanied by officials from the Nusantara Capital City Authority (OIKN), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Investment.

The visit started from Sepaku Semoi Dam, which will support the demand for water and serve as flood control for IKN.

The dam is a foundational infrastructure that is being developed the earliest to supply 2,500 liters per second of clean water. The progress of the dam’s construction has reached 91 percent, and it is scheduled to be inaugurated this year.

The visitors also went to the Nusantara Zero Point, Sumbu Kebangsaan Barat, the Istana Negara Building construction project, and the ceremonial field.

Masdar's director of development, Dony Suryaman, said that the company is impressed with the significant construction progress on the field.

He also expressed his interest in following up on the LoI and taking it to the next stage.

"As a form of Masdar's commitment to developing clean energy in Indonesia, Masdar is interested to contribute in the development of clean energy in IKN in a mutually beneficial business scheme," he said.
