After a 0-0 draw against Palestine at Gelora Bung Tomo (GBT) Stadium in Surabaya on Wednesday night (June 14), the national team flew back to Jakarta and held a practice session on Thursday afternoon.
Under the charge of national coach Shin Tae-yong, players began to enter GBK’s Field A at 5 p.m. local time.
Four days before the match against Argentina, the winner of the 2022 Qatar World Cup, coach Shin asked players to enjoy the match against Argentina’s Angel Di Maria and his team.
"Just enjoy the match against Argentina. Players should have no fear and no one should be agitated. This is not easy, but you have to be able to control it so you can enjoy the game. That's what the players have to understand," he said.
According to him, reflecting on the score of the match against Palestine, the Indonesian national team has a chance of winning against Argentina, though it is small.
"In the June 19 match against Argentina, we have a chance, even though the odds are 7:3," he said.
He urged the players to finish the match well.
After receiving the coach’s instructions, the players warmed up by jogging around the field. The training continued by dividing the main players, reserves, and players who will not compete at all.
The main players underwent light training, while the reserve players underwent higher-intensity training.
All the players who competed against Palestine showed up for the training.
After an hour, the practice concluded with all the players and staff gathering in the middle of the pitch.
Indonesia will face Argentina at GBK Main Stadium at 7:30 p.m. local time on June 19 as part of the FIFA Match Day series.
