"We request that information be disseminated in schools or strategic locations to reach young voters," said Wahyu Dinata, the head of KPU DKI, on Monday.
Dinata emphasized the importance of informing young voters about the technical aspects of the 2024 elections, including the voting process and getting to know the candidates.
He also highlighted the importance of voting and how it can determine their future leaders.
Dinata further emphasized the need to caution students about the risks of sensitive issues related to ethnicity, religion, race, and inter-group relations during the 2024 elections, as these issues can potentially lead to conflicts.
"The understanding of the importance of exercising the right to vote is crucial," he said.
He expressed confidence that by disseminating information effectively, the number of students abstaining from voting can be reduced.
Additionally, the commission plans to educate more people about the elections in various locations, including residential areas and apartment complexes.
Municipal governments have already identified areas, including West Jakarta, where KPU DKI can educate the public about the 2024 elections.
Junaedi, the Head of the West Jakarta Education Sub-Office II, stated that his administration has collected data on the schools to be visited by the commission.
"We have identified 8 state high schools and 4 state vocational schools. We will prioritize the state schools initially," he informed.
Junaedi expressed the hope that the commission would disseminate information about the 2024 elections to all schools in West Jakarta.
