During the discussion on business climate and ease of doing business, Hartarto drew attention to several policy focuses undertaken by the Indonesian government to expedite economic and bureaucratic transformation.
"The first policy focus is business regulation and procedure improvement through the Job Creation Law," Hartarto noted through an official statement on Thursday.
"This law provides legal certainty and convenience related to business licensing requirements and licensing process," he remarked.
The Indonesian government also continues the economic transformation program through the natural resources downstreaming policy, energy transition, human resources development through the Pre-Employment Card Program, and development of infrastructure, including the Nusantara Capital City (IKN).
Chinese companies have frequently encouraged Indonesia's economic transformation, including in the mineral downstreaming program, especially for nickel, for which several Chinese companies have invested.
The minister then encouraged greater involvement of Chinese companies in other economic transformation sectors, especially in energy transition programs, including the development of electric vehicles.
Other energy transition programs that Chinese companies can participate in comprise gradual retirement of electric steam power plants and acceleration of development of renewable power plants, such as solar, wind, and hydropower plants.
According to Hartarto, Indonesia is interested in efforts made by China that is also developing hydrogen vehicles.
He also sought the country's support, so that Chinese entrepreneurs can invest in Indonesia, including in the Gresik Special Economic Zone (KEK), East Java.
Gresik KEK provides fiscal and non-fiscal facilities, such as tax holiday up to 20 years, licensing management convenience, customs incentives, ease of immigration, and land use incentives.
Several Chinese companies attended the meeting and expressed their interest to invest in Indonesia, including representatives from the Tianjin RockCheck Investment Holding Group, Chint Group, Spring Airlines, Guangdong Evergreen Conglomerate Co. Ltd., and Yili Group.
