Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology has urged regional authorities to induct more teachers as contract-based government employees (PPPK) this year

"Regional authorities are expected to increase the 2023 PPPK quota allocation for teachers," the ministry's Director General of Teachers and Educational Personnel Nunuk Suryani stated, according to a statement released here on Saturday.

She lauded the cooperation between the ministry and regional authorities for inducting 544,292 teachers who are earning an honorarium as contract government employees.

However, the ministry is expecting the local authorities to increase the quota for teachers in the 2023 PPPK as only 278,102 honorarium teachers are recommended this year out of the 825,281 positions required, she said.

"We ask (the regional authorities) to open and increase the formations. If there is any issue, let us address it together," Suryani added.

Meanwhile, Assistant Deputy for Office Design, Planning, and Human Resources Recruitment at the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Aba Subagja said that his side is keen to see more honorarium teachers inducted as contract government employees.

He emphasized that the central government has prepared a budget for the induction of PPPK in 2023.

Moreover, central and regional authorities’ financial analyst at the Home Affairs Ministry's Directorate General of Regional Financial Management, Hilman, said that the budget for the 2023 PPPK induction will be regulated by Ministerial Regulation No. 84 of 2022.

In essence, regional authorities are required to allocate budget for the induction of state apparatus and contract government employees according to the job formations established by the ministry, he explained.

"The phases are already in place; they just need to propose it," Hilman said.
