Pangkalpinang, Bangka Belitung (ANTARA) - The Bangka Belitung Islands will host the National Coordination Meeting of the Regional Regulation Formation Agency (Bapemperda) on July 5-8, 2023.

"We together with the Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) are discussing preparations for the meeting," Acting Governor of Bangka Belitung Islands Suganda Pandapotan Pasaribu said after receiving provincial legislative member Adet Mastur, here on Sunday.

He said around 1,600 participants will attend the national coordination meeting that involves all Bapemperdas throughout Indonesia so that the national meeting needs to be prepared well.

"The preparation for the meeting must be carried out properly so that the activities can run well, smoothly, and safely," he said.

In the meeting, the Bangka Belitung Islands will present a number of regional regulation formation programs (Propemperda), such as regional taxes and retributions, and regional spatial planning.

"I hope everything can run smoothly, and the communication between the executive and legislative bodies can run well ... (I hope) it goes in line with the purpose to build the Bangka Belitung Islands," he said.

Pasaribu further said that he and the regional legislative members also discussed the plan to revise the 2023 regional budget, including the measures that will be taken to do so.

"We really welcome this visit, because this can improve coordination and synergy of all parties in building this region," Pasaribu remarked.

On a separate occasion, head of the province's finance agency M. Haris said that the national coordination meeting can drive the local economy.

"This meeting will be carried out for four days, from July 5-8, 2023. Let's just say that one person spends Rp5 million in a day, and if it is multiplied by two thousand people, there will be about Rp10 billion (US$664 thousand) money circulating in these islands," he explained.

Meanwhile, the Chair of the Bangka Belitung Islands Bapemperda, Hellyana, said that the meeting aimed to speed up the implementation of the Job Creation Law.
