Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Directorate General of Water Resources of the Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Ministry prioritizes the completion of basic water infrastructure in the new capital city (IKN) Nusantara until 2024.

"For the IKN Nusantara development, we are prioritizing the completion of basic water infrastructure until 2024 that includes improving and restructuring the Sepaku Semoi Dam area," Acting Director General of Water Resources, Jarot Widyoko, stated at the Hearing Meeting with Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) in Jakarta on Monday.

Moreover, his side will conduct other activities related to the development of water resource infrastructure in IKN Nusantara for the next year, such as the construction of Flood Control for the Sanggai 1A Watershed (DAS), continue infrastructure development for the Central Government Core Area (KIPP), and continue flood handling on Sepaku River in North Penajam Paser District.

Other efforts encompass flood control on the Pamalun, Sanggai, Seluang, and Tengin rivers in North Penajam Paser District, he remarked.

These steps are followed by construction of the KIPP Reservoir in North Penajam Paser District and the Early Warning System at Sanggai Watershed.

According to Widyoko, total budget allocation for supporting the development of IKN next year amounts to Rp1.07 trillion.

He also explained that the development of infrastructure support for water resources at IKN this year for the construction of Sepaku Semoi Dam reaches 97.7 percent and is targeted to be completed and commence impounding in 2023.

"Furthermore, we are carrying out flood control in the IKN through flood control work in the Sanggai 1A watershed, which has now reached 46.78-percent progress, and will continue the work that is in the bidding process now," he remarked.

Widyoko then noted that the fulfillment of raw water supply for IKN Nusantara will be supported by construction of the Intake Infrastructure and Transmission Pipeline Network of the Sepaku River, construction of the KIPP Reservoir of North Penajam Paser District, Optimization of Landscape Arrangement of the Sepaku River Intake, and Optimization of Landscape Arrangement of the Mentawir Reservoir.

"Based on the report, total budget for the IKN Nusantara development this year is Rp1.13 trillion," he noted.
