Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Trade, Jerry Sambuaga, has said that the government is committed to assisting and enabling micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to expand their markets so that they can ascend to a higher class.

While visiting an MSME center in Palembang City, South Sumatra Province, on Tuesday, the deputy minister emphasized the importance of making collective efforts to boost the competitiveness of Indonesia's MSME products.

In a written statement received in Jakarta, Sambuaga affirmed that the government will continue to help MSME actors get access to broader markets, including marketplaces, retail, and also foreign markets.

The government has stationed trade representatives abroad who are always ready to help Indonesian MSME players market their products in the global markets, he noted.

He explained that Indonesian trade attachés and Indonesian trade promotion centers (ITPC) are willing to help MSMEs conduct business matching by connecting them with potential buyers.

In addition, the Trade Ministry is offering various export coaching programs and export information services (InaExport and InaDigiExport) for those who wish to explore opportunities in foreign markets, he added.

The ministry is striving to help MSME players by holding product development programs (certification and designing assistance) as well as establishing cooperation in export development with various international institutions.

The ministry is also organizing export promotion activities by holding exhibitions in Indonesia and abroad as well as delegating representatives to carry out trading and buying missions.

"MSMEs constitute one of Indonesia's trade pillars. Therefore, the government is supporting MSME players to continue to be creative, innovative, responsive, and adaptive to respond to the dynamics of national and global economies," he pointed out.
