Jakarta (ANTARA) - Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning Minister Hadi Tjahjanto said that he is supervising the progress of Borobudur Super Priority Tourism Destination development in terms of agrarian and spatial planning aspects.

"We are responsible for the agrarian affairs and spatial planning matters. In regards to those plots, there are state's assets, so we need collaboration, we pursue coordination, so all issues related to the assets can be managed for (the good of) tourism," the minister said according to statement received here on Sunday.

Further collaboration with regional government is needed to resolve tourism matters, he said.

He added that the ministry and regional government have to collaborate with each other to outline the spatial planning, particularly for the tourism area. One of the aspects covered in the structural planning was on power or electricity network, he said.

"What we are working on right now is all the cables, which we will be put underground as per the spatial planning, and we will coordinate with regional government for the spatial planning, so it will not look messy," Minister Tjahjanto said.

Borobudur is one of Indonesia's five Super Priority Tourism Destinations which have the potential to improve state revenue. The relevant ministries and institutions are expected to work together and develop Borobudur as a great tourism destination that will attract more tourists from various countries.

Pursuing cross-sectoral collaboration to further develop Borobudur tourism area can bring some positive impacts, such as economic development and more job opportunities.

Borobudur's development is outlined in National Strategic Program regarding transportation, power, and clean water development for 10 National Strategic Tourism Areas.

Earlier, the Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning Ministry, represented by its deputy minister Raja Juli Antoni, officially handed Borobudur Temple Complex Management Permit to Borobudur Authority Agency.

Antoni said he expected that the initiative would boost the local economy, particularly for the sake of the people in Central Java and Yogyakarta.
