Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning Ministry has collaborated with National Archives (ANRI) to maintain national land documents in an orderly manner.

"I am confident that problems, which are related to the big problem, that is land mafia, will be unraveled because we can archive documents, including other documents, so they are kept in an orderly manner. Later on, if we need that document, we can see the original," Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning Minister, Hadi Tjahjanto, noted in a written statement received here on Thursday.

Tjahjanto stated that the land documents were maintained across all agrarian offices throughout Indonesia.

The collaboration was marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding, which was followed by assistance in archiving land documentation from each district and city's National Archives.

"One agrarian office can keep so many documents. In practice, National Archives has representatives in (each) district and cities, which will be able to assist in matters of archiving," the minister remarked.

Head of National Archives Imam Gunarto stated that archives must be managed in accordance with the law and regulation, as they serve as proof of activities and token of the ministry's accountability. It was also a legal proof that could be used in future.

Thus, this cooperation was deemed immensely beneficial in integrating the task, function, and authority of the two entities.

The minister stated that land-related documentation were vital archives that concerned the people's rights. Law Number 43 of 2009 stipulates that archives with similar importance to land documents were protected, with that function serving as a tool to maintain state sovereignty.

"One can imagine if we do not have proper land archiving, then the state's existence and performance will not look very optimal. Thus, we see a high (level of) urgency in managing land documentation in a professional and best possible manner," he reiterated.

The ANRI also supported measures to digitize the archiving of land documents in the ministry's scope, with the commitment to facilitating the digitization of land documentation and the development of a digital system.

"I hope that the digitization of land archives would be done together. National Archives is ready to assist this transformation process. We are very honoured to be able to cooperate with members of the Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning Ministry, as archives are very important for the state. We are ready to help, we are ready to collaborate, and if God allows, it will result in something beneficial for the nation and state," Gunarto concluded.
