Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning Ministry will summon an official from its administration section following reports about the extravagant lifestyle of a family member of the said official.

Head of public relations at the ministry Yulia Jaya Nirmawati informed that Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning Minister Hadi Tjahjanto is aware of the case and is currently looking into it.

"Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning Minister has given an internal directive for the inspector general and head of the Jakarta National Land Agency to call forth the one (official) in question to be asked for clarifications," she said in an official broadcast here on Friday.

She informed that the minister has given permission to the relevant authorities to review the said official's assets and investigate the case further.

"We support and are ready to coordinate with relevant stakeholders," she said.

Should any violations be found and proven, then the minister will follow up the case by taking firm action, she added.

The minister had discussed such action during the opening of the “2023 National Coordination Meeting” in Jakarta on March 7, 2023.

He had urged officials in his ministry to live a humble life and shun glamorous and extravagant lifestyles. Tjahjanto had also highlighted the importance of upholding propriety as a value among state apparatuses as a form of empathy toward people.

"At the opening of the ‘National Coordination Meeting’ on March 7, the minister has reiterated the directive from the president that flaunting position and assets is not an appropriate thing to do. Hopefully, this is duly noted," Nirmawati said.

The Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning Ministry has consistently strived to follow the professional code of ethics and uphold state apparatus' professional services standards, as stipulated by Law Number 5 of 2014 about state civil servants.

The law states that the one thing that officials must pursue is living a humble, modest life.

"Give the best service, always smile, and be friendly. Just like what Mr. Minister said, that the position we hold is something entrusted, there's nothing that lasts forever," she said.
