Jakarta (ANTARA) - Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning Minister/National Land Agency (BPN) Head Hadi Tjahjanto expressed optimism that the newly inaugurated central and regional Land Deed Official (PPAT) supervisory council members would improve land and spatial services.

"As the working partner of the ministry, I expect you can assist in improving the ministry's performance," Tjahjanto stated as per an official statement received here, Friday.

The minister's remarks were made during the oath-taking ceremony for new officials inducted as the Central Land Deed Official Supervisory Council (MPPP) and Regional Land Deed Official Supervisory Council (MPPW) members here, Thursday (July 14).

A land deed official should make all-out efforts to improve supervision and guidance to aspects relevant to the duty, he emphasized while adding that the official can support the government through various avenues, including by promoting government programmes.

"PPAT can promote the ministry's priority programmes, and (they must) expedite the land registration process instead of hindering the service," he remarked.

The minister also told officials that he would not hesitate to take action against those proven to become part of the land mafia or found to assist it.

"I want to remind (all of you) that you must not be part of the land mafia. If anyone becomes part of the land mafia, I will have zero tolerance to them," Tjahjanto remarked.

The commitment to eradicating the land mafia is consistent with President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi's) instruction to Tjahjanto to address land dispute and land conflict issues.

"There are three aspects that I must highlight today, the first one is to accelerate the PTSL (complete, systematic land registration) process; the second is to address land disputes and conflicts, including eradicating the land mafia; and the third is to support the new capital development. Those tasks are our current focus," the minister stated.

He expressed optimism that the new PPAT supervisory council members would properly assist and monitor land deed officials in their respective work areas.
