Pratikno made the statement at the inauguration of the Presidential Palace's electrical revitalization at Power House PLN, the Presidential Palace complex, Jakarta, on Tuesday.
He noted that the electrical infrastructure at the Presidential Palace had not been revitalized significantly for 63 years.
Pratikno highlighted that the palace, in fact, is an important place for the state, as it is used to receive the visits of state guests and to store state documents.
"Imagine when we receive state guests, and then suddenly, the electricity goes out, Indonesia would make headlines around the world," he stated.
In addition, precious and priceless works of art are kept in the palace.
To this end, the palace is one of the determinants of Indonesia's reputation in the international world. Thus, it must be ensured that the electrical infrastructure is installed well.
"It seems like (only) an electrical problem, but this is a very big problem," he cautioned.
The minister explained that the electrical infrastructure revitalization at the palace, which uses up-to-date technology, could become a model for the preparation of electricity at public infrastructures and in the new capital city (IKN) Nusantara.
The revitalization also pays attention to the architectural aspects, so that the physical infrastructure of electricity does not clash with the palace building.
To this end, the electrical infrastructure at the Presidential Palace is centered at a power house built underground disguised by a garden.
Meanwhile, President Director of state-run electricity company PT PLN, Darmawan Prasodjo, stated that electrical revitalization of the palace enables the devices and electrical infrastructure to be consolidated by a modern system with the use of a "State of the Art of Technology" approach.
To maintain the aesthetics of the palace, the electrical infrastructure is installed underground, at a depth of up to 20 meters.
On the ground is a 2.5-meter-high electrical infrastructure that is disguised by a garden.
PLN also changed the electricity system, which was earlier manual, to become digital and updated it with artificial intelligence (AI) devices.
