"They will present a performance of works of art that are combined into one, at Banteng Square, Central Jakarta, in the Indonesia Channel 2023," Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs' spokesperson Teuku Faizasyah stated at a media briefing here on Wednesday.
Indonesia Channel 2023 is a performance of Indonesian arts and culture presented by participants from abroad to close the BSBI program held by the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The BSBI program is a scholarship program for youth from abroad that are keen to study Indonesian arts and culture.
"BSBI is the flagship of the ministry's socio-cultural program by providing scholarships to young people from various countries to bring them closer to Indonesian art and culture, so that they can get the best experience in the life of Indonesian people," Faizasyah remarked.
Through this program, the ministry is optimistic that participants, who have completed the program, can become ambassadors to introduce Indonesian arts and culture in their respective countries.
"Hence, we hope that after they have gained valuable experience for two months in the country and studied art and others, once they return to their homeland, they can become representatives of Indonesia in their countries," Faizasyah affirmed.
He noted that during this year's BSBI program, five studios are partners of the ministry in introducing Indonesian arts and culture to participants.
The five studios are the Kutai Kartanegara Gubang Art Community Studio, Semarandana Bali Art Studio, Langlang Buana Banyuwangi Studio, DKI Jakarta Ayodya Pala Studio, and Syofyani Dance and Music Studio from Padang.
At the Indonesia Channel 2023 show, which will be held on Saturday, August 12, at Banteng Square, Central Jakarta, Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi and Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono will be present to give remarks at the event.
The cultural event is expected to be attended by some 1,500 spectators involving several diplomatic officials represented by the show's participants, students, and members of the general public.
Faizasyah views the program as being a good flagship program for Indonesia's long-term diplomatic relations with other countries.
"This is a good program for future investment in interstate relations," he affirmed.
Meanwhile, Aya Saidi, a Tunisian participant, who partook in the BSBI program, said she was glad to have the opportunity to study Indonesian dance at the Kutai Kartanegara Gubang Art Community Art Studio.
Through the program, she was able to gain extensive experience, starting from dance to culture and learning Indonesian. In addition, Saidi said she was drawn to the natural beauty and hospitality of the Indonesian people.
"I really love this experience. Gubang Studio is also great. I made friends, met new families, and we also got (to learn) a lot of things, like dance, culture, and also language. It has been a really wonderful experience," she affirmed.
