Jakarta (ANTARA) - ​​​​​​Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono stated that the arrangement and renovation of the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) for the 43rd ASEAN Summit had been completed.

"All the arrangements and renovations have been completed," Minister Hadimuljono said here on Friday.

Hadimuljono said he had observed the arrangement and renovation of the JCC that had been carried out by his ministry, so that the location could be used as a venue for the 43rd Summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

"I have observed it, and (JCC) can be used as a location for holding the ASEAN Summit," he remarked.

The ministry provides full support for the holding of the 43rd ASEAN Summit through the provision of infrastructure.

Renovation of the JCC has been conducted by the Ministry of PUPR through the Jakarta Metro Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center (BPPW) and Directorate General of Cipta Karya since June 12, 2023.

The cost of Rp115.88 billion (around US$7.6 million) for renovating the JCC comes from the state budget.

JCC renovations were conducted at four zones, comprising Zone 1 (Lower Ground) that included architectural work on Kasuari Lounge, Merak Room, Nuri Room, Maleo Room, Kenari Room, Kakatua Room, Lower Lobby Pre Function, Summit Room, Summit Lounge, walkway to the Hotel Sultan, prayer room, and toilet.

Renovations in zone 2, or the Ground Floor area, consist of architectural work on the Assembly Hall, Main Lobby, Cendrawasih Hall and Corridor, Prefunction Hall A, as well as the VIP Room and toilets.

Renovations in zone 3, or the ground area, consist of handling the plenary hall and corridors as well as the presidential area.

Meanwhile, in zone 4, which is also in the ground area, the work is carried out by installing a canopy, arranging drop offs, front gardens, side gardens, toilets, and an outdoor prayer room.

The JCC renovation has a main design concept by adopting Indonesian cultural elements that can reflect the character and identity of the Indonesian nation.

The Directorate General of Cipta Karya also added instruments, such as synthetic rattan wraps, padded walls, and carpets, that depict Indonesia's diversity.
