Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Minister Erick Thohir has praised the operational technology used by PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia-China (KCIC) in the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway (KCJB), saying it is equivalent to the technologies employed by Europe and Japan.

"If we compare it with Europe, the United States, and Japan, we are equivalent to them. There are various technologies for high-speed railways. France has it, Spain has it, Italy, and moreover, Japan," he noted at Halim's KJCB station in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Thohir said that while there are several high-speed train technologies in different countries, the KCJB has adopted the latest Chinese technology for high-speed trains.

While accompanying President Joko Widodo for the high-speed train's operational trial, the minister observed that the train reached a maximum speed of 351 kilometers per hour.

When the train touched its highest speed, it continued to run smoothly without shock, Thohir said.

"The speed reached 351 not 350, right, but 1 above 350, so it ran fast; doesn't feel like it, right; and this is the latest technology," he observed.

He added that the high-speed railway connecting Jakarta-Surabaya has also adopted the same technology as the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train.
