"If we are able to improve (the handling of) our logistics issues, more investment will come to produce better results," Hartarto noted at the New Era of Logistics Costs for Golden Indonesia 2045 in Jakarta on Thursday.
According to the minister, the government continues to improve national logistics performance through various policies, including implementing the National Logistics Ecosystem (NLE) as a form of information system synergy and collaboration between agencies and business actors to increase national logistics efficiency.
"The NLE implementation will be expanded to 32 seaports and six airports by 2023," he remarked.
Hartarto noted that the results of evaluation of the implementation showed several positive impacts, such as the Quarantine Customs Single Submission (SSm QC) that succeeded in cutting the total inspection time by up to 22.37 percent and also saved 33.48 percent, or amounting to Rp191.32 billion, in costs.
Moreover, collaboration between Statistics Indonesia (BPS), the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), and the Coordinating Ministry for Economy Affairs in calculating logistics costs has shown that Indonesia's national logistics costs were 14.29 percent of the gross domestic income (GDI) for 2022, he highlighted.
He explained that this calculation was made in order to measure the achievement of policy targets for improving the national logistics system as one of the supporting sectors for accelerating national economic growth.
Furthermore, the results of calculation of national logistics costs will become the government's guidance in formulating policies to increase the effectiveness of the national logistics system and supply chain in the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN), the minister stated.
Moreover, these costs are one of the references in assessing economic competitiveness by business actors and investors, he stated.
Hartarto also encourages collaboration between stakeholders to strengthen national logistics and supply chains in the form of infrastructure and human resources.
"Logistics has an impact on everything, including on the inflation management program. It is hoped to become a tool to maintain inflation and increase our economic growth in the future," he affirmed.
