Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno has said that digital promotions can increase business sales by 35 percent.

Recognizing the value of promoting products on digital platforms, Uno urged business actors to use digital marketing to build strong brands and expand their market reach.

"We see how promotion through digital platforms can increase sales by 35 percent, open business opportunities, and create 4.4 million new jobs in 2024," he said in a statement released on Friday.

People spend 8–9 hours on social media daily, with 35–40 percent of that time spent on e-commerce applications, he said.

"Indonesia has the highest proportion of e-commerce users at 44 percent, after Thailand," he emphasized.

To build their brands on digital platforms, business players should focus on authenticity, relevance, and popularity, he said.

Uno urged tourism and creative economy actors to diversify and expand their businesses, such as from culinary, craft, and fashion to body care products.

He said that besides culinary items, body care products and traditional health medicines, such as jamu, are demanded the most by the community.

"Our micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) should start expanding. They should make more diverse products, not just crackers and chips," he added.

After business players determine the on-demand products, they must optimize the use of digital platforms, Uno advised.

Earlier, vice chairperson of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Triawan Munaf, said that the rapid growth of e-commerce in Indonesia has become a catalyst for the creative economy sector to reach a wider market.
