The exhibition, which carries the theme of "Journey to Connect Indonesia," showcases progress and achievements of Indonesia's transportation sector in the past decade.
President Jokowi made the most of his inspection by visiting booths of several parties and companies, including the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway, Jakarta Mass Rapid Transit, Pertamina, Gojek, Prestige Image Motorcars, and BookCabin.
Present during Jokowi's visit, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi extended his appreciation to the head of state for his willingness to personally check on the exhibition.
Minister Sumadi remarked that the exhibition constitutes a manifestation of the Indonesian government's aspirations in the transportation sector.
The exhibition is being held with the objective of broadening the insights of the Indonesian people, particularly of members of the younger generation, on the development of means of transportation in their country, he remarked.
The minister then expressed hope that the event would help the government attract more young Indonesian talents to collaborate with it to further develop public transportation in Indonesia.
"Mr President was surprised to see what we are organizing. This (exhibition) is instrumental in encouraging our young talents to confidently do their best," he affirmed.
According to Sumadi, President Jokowi had instructed him to execute various tasks to further advance Indonesia's mass transport system.
"There are a plethora of tasks. They are challenging yet intriguing at the same time," he noted.
Furthermore, the transportation minister called on stakeholders, including ministries, agencies, regional governments, academics, and the media, to synergize to execute the tasks.
Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan and Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno joined Minister Sumadi in accompanying President Jokowi during the inspection.
