During a limited meeting at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday, the president highlighted the need to connect stations of Light Rail Transit (LRT) with Halim Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway (KCJB) Station in Jakarta, among others.
"We also need to immediately construct other infrastructures to connect Manggarai (Commuter Trains/KRL) Station with TransJakarta services as well as Tanah Abang (KRL) Station with Dukuh Atas (Mass Rapid Transit) Station," he remarked on Wednesday.
"And we must ensure that all (connecting infrastructures) have proper lighting systems, street lights and can protect (passengers) from the rain," he pointed out.
President Jokowi expressed optimism that by constructing connecting infrastructures, the government would succeed in driving more people to switch to using public transport since such infrastructures could provide the people with a higher level of convenience and comfort in accessing mass transport.
He affirmed that in order to optimize the use of existing means of public transport, such as MRT, LRT, KCJB, TransJakarta, and airport trains, the government should exert maximum efforts to develop infrastructure and facilities required to connect the means of transportation.

It is essential to integrate the services of public transportation with the services provided by online taxi and ojek (motorcycle taxi) in the hopes of facilitating people in accessing the existing means of public transportation, he noted.
"Convenience and comfort are the keys," Jokowi emphasized.
During the meeting, the head of state also urged attending stakeholders to collaborate to provide people with a one-stop system.
"It would be very good if the people could simply place a single order to plan their travels through a system that can inform them on which means of transport they should take," he pointed out.
Furthermore, President Jokowi pushed for the development of an integrated payment system that can facilitate and attract the people to access all means of public transportation.
"I would also urge you to study the mechanism for the subscription-based payment system by discussing what kind of discounts it could offer. I believe that such a system will attract numerous people to use mass transport," he told the meeting participants.
