Jakarta (ANTARA) - An official at the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment said on Sunday that the Sail Teluk Cenderawasih (STC) 2023, scheduled in Papua from November 1-7, is expected to attract investors to the province.

"If investors visit Papua and see its potential, they might become interested in doing business there," said Hermin Esti Setyowati, the ministry's Assistant Deputy for Tourism and Creative Economy Human Resources.

She made the statement after delivering remarks at the STC Enchantment of Arts and Culture event in Jakarta.

A forum for investors will be held as part of the STC 2003. She expressed hope that during the forum, investors could identify business opportunities in Papua and subsequently proceed with investments.

She said that her ministry has sent invitations to investors to attend the STC 2023.

Four districts in Papua will host the event: Biak Numfor, Yapen Islands, Waropen, and Sarmi.

The STC 2023 is a national tourism agenda aimed at maintaining Indonesia's maritime sovereignty in the Pacific region.

The event will feature maritime-related activities, including art performances and a food bazaar.

Setyowati expressed hope that events like STC can be held annually to increase public awareness of the potential of Indonesia's easternmost regions.
