"CSIRT in districts/cities is to deal with cyber incidents that attack at the same time, guarantee the wholeness and availability of local governments' cyber data and information," director of regional government cybersecurity and crypto at BSSN, Hasto Prastowo, said here on Tuesday.
In Pekalongan, he symbolically handed over a CSIRT certificate to Mayor Afzan Arslan Djunaid. Prastowo emphasized that BSSN is committed to increasing cooperation with regional governments in facing cyberattacks.
Increasing the capacity of CSIRT can help overcome the barriers faced due to limited human resources, he said.
"In Indonesia, CSIRT is not only used by the government but also executive and judicial agencies and other institutions," he said.
Pekalongan Mayor Djunaid said his administration finally managed to launch CSIRT in the city, the 14th such launch in Central Java and the 50th in Indonesia.
"This means that the city government acted quickly in realizing cybersecurity. Together with BSSN and the Central Java government, we can prevent the risk of hackers, (and improve) digitalization that has been running due to the pandemic, such as meetings or forums via Zoom to continue to run well," he said.
In addition, with CSIRT, government data can be stored properly and support the Pekalongan One Data Program, he added.
He said that CSIRT will be used to strengthen cybersecurity in the local area.
"Incidents can be reported to https://csirt.pekalongankota.go.id or email to csirt@gafe.pekalongankota.go.id," he informed.
Earlier, People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Speaker Bambang Soesatyo asked the government to take serious measures against the increasing cases of hacking in the country, which have penetrated government websites and people's personal data.
"We ask the government to be serious in responding to the rampant hacking of people's personal data and websites of government institutions," he said.
