"The electrical energy produced by hydropower from Kayan River is not only used to power the green energy industrial area in North Kalimantan but can also be a source of electricity supply for IKN Nusantara," he noted in an online seminar on Wednesday.
The minister remarked that so far, hydropower from Kayan River had helped to supply electricity for the green energy industrial area in North Kalimantan.

"The government is building a green energy industrial area in North Kalimantan using hydropower energy sources from the Kayan River," he stated.
Hadimuljono revealed that the potential electricity generated from Kayan River's hydropower reaches around 1,375 Gigawatts (GW).
Based on Law Number 3 of 2022 concerning the National Capital, IKN is an economic engine for Kalimantan and a trigger for strengthening the domestic value chain throughout the eastern region of Indonesia.
IKN development will place Indonesia in a more strategic position in world trade routes, investment flows, and technological innovation.
Moreover, the new capital city will become a pilot project for green and sustainable city development driven by the utilization of the latest technology.
The vision of a "World City for All" not only covers IKN residents in the future but also the environmental conditions that will be restored and maintained in the region.
The vision is divided into three main goals, namely IKN as a symbol of national identity, IKN as a sustainable city in the world, and IKN as a driving force of Indonesia's economy in the future.
