Jakarta (ANTARA) - State ferry operator PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry on December 11 will implement restrictions on online ferry ticket purchases ahead of the Christmas and New Year holidays, according to ASDP Corporate Secretary Shelvy Arifin.

The purpose of enforcing the restrictions on purchases based on location is to create reliable crossing and quality port services that are based on four factors, namely safety, security, services, and prevention of environmental pollution, she said here Sunday.

She explained that her side will restrict online ferry ticket purchases using the GPS Location feature.

"We detect the area by using the GPS Location feature on each customer's smartphone. Customers who try to reserve tickets and are located outside the radius, they will encounter a pop-up error message when they press the search schedule button," she said.

The restriction of the online ferry ticket purchase based on location refers to Ministerial Regulation No. 28 of 2016 stipulating that passengers of crossing ferries must hold tickets, and Ministerial Regulation No. 19 of 2020 on the implementation of crossing ferries e-tickets.

The restriction will support the operation of the 2023/2024 year-end holiday post led by the Ministry of Transportation, the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) and the National Police Traffic Corps.

Arifin explained that when the regulation is established, ferizy.com and ASDP official partners will not be able to serve the purchase of tickets in determined locations.

"That way, we advise to purchase tickets on trip.ferizy.com website and the ferizy app earlier. The ticket purchase can be carried out D-60, and customers can prepare and plan their trips better," she said.
