South Lampung, Lampung (ANTARA) - The mobility at Bakauheni Port in South Lampung to Merak Port in Banten continues to increase ahead of D-5 of the 2024 Eid al-Fitr.

General manager of state-owned ferry operator (PT ASDP) Bakauheni Branch, Rudi Sunarko, stated on Friday that the number of passengers from Bakauheni Port reached 39,151 people.

Based on the 2024 Eid transportation data at Bakauheni Port on April 4-5, 2024, at 8:00 local time, the number of passengers reached 39,151 people, an increase from 30,251 people on the previous day.

"The number of passengers consisted of 1,504 pedestrian passengers and 37,647 passengers in vehicles," Sunarko explained.

He remarked that 7,258 private vehicles crossed from Lampung to Banten. This figure increased significantly, from 6,470 vehicles on the previous day.

Sunarko affirmed that his side will ensure the readiness of ships used to transport and support passengers' mobility for the 2024 Eid homecoming.

PT ASDP is also preparing various port and ship facilities to ensure passenger comfort for the Eid homecoming.

Sunarko appealed to ferry service users to buy Ferizy tickets in advance.

"We urge prospective travelers from Sumatra to Java, who will use the ASDP crossing service, to buy tickets in advance," he emphasized.

His side has implemented new provisions for purchasing online ferry tickets starting on December 11, 2023.

This provision applies to Bakauheni Port, Merak Port, Ketapang Port, and Gilimanuk Port.

The new provision stated that ferry ticket reservations can be made up to a maximum radius of five kilometers before the port.

This provision is stipulated in the Letter of the Director General of Land Transportation AP.406/1/5/DJPD/2023 regarding the Arrangement of Electronic Ticket Booking Services around Ports.

Earlier, the Transportation Ministry along with Statistics Indonesia (BPS), the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, and other institutions, had conducted a survey, in which as many as 193.6 million people were forecast to travel for the Eid homecoming.
