South Lampung (ANTARA) - The Resort Police of South Lampung, Lampung Province, plans to enhance security measures in the area of Bakauheni Port to provide safety and comfort for those planning to join the 2024 Eid al-Fitr homecoming exodus.

South Lampung Police Head Grand Commissioner Adjutant Yusriandi Yusrin revealed that his side will deploy a total of 587 officers to ensure the safety and comfort of people seeking to travel through South Lampung from Java to Sumatra and vice versa.

"The planned number is 587, but it might be adjusted since we will collaborate with personnel from other relevant stakeholders," he remarked in South Lampung District on Saturday.

Yusrin stated that the regional police is also planning to operate security and service posts ahead of Eid.

"On April 3, we will simultaneously deploy the personnel. The South Lampung Police will erect 11 security posts and two service posts around Bakauheni Port and (Raden Inten) airport," he remarked in Kalianda Sub-district.

He noted that the area of Bakauheni Port had been one of the congestion-prone points in the region, as the area serves as the gateway for travelers coming from and to Sumatra Island.

He stated that the police will tighten monitoring not only on people arriving on boats but also those driving motorbikes, cars, and cargo vehicles.

Yusrin affirmed that his side would also provide escort services to homecoming travelers using motorbikes while crossing South Lampung.

"We will, in relays, escort our brothers and sisters who will cross South Lampung during their homecoming trips," he remarked.

The police officer explained that the escort services would be focused on protecting travelers from unwanted events and crimes at night.
