Manado (ANTARA) - The National Resilience Institute (Lemhanas) held a focus group discussion in Manado, North Sulawesi, to garner inputs to bolster the role of state-run radio broadcasting institution RRI in underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost (3T) regions.

Lemhanas Governor Vice Admiral Maman Firmansyah said his side organized the discussion with the aim of gathering inputs and suggestions from regional governments, the Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI), National Police (Polri), and other stakeholders to help RRI contribute to national resilience strengthening efforts.

"We will later convey the inputs, as data, to the (central) government," he remarked after attending the discussion on Thursday (November 30).

He noted that in Manado, Lemhanas also visited other regions to review the implementation of public services, especially in 3T and border regions.

"Earlier, we had conducted a survey and gathered data in Nunukan, North Kalimantan," Firmansyah noted.

During the discussion, Lemhanas urged RRI to map the extent of the reach of its relay stations and transmitters, he stated.

In this way, he said, RRI will be able to identify which regions have yet to host a relay transmitter and those areas whose transmitters need to be improved.

"We encouraged RRI to conduct a study to enhance the reach, effectiveness, and efficiency of its services," he noted.

Meanwhile, President Director of RRI, Hendrasmo, expressed gratitude for the holding of the discussion.

"We need support for our efforts to strengthen public services in 3T regions," he remarked.

He emphasized that the national radio institution also plays a role in strengthening national resilience in addition to disseminating information and edifying the public.

"It is important to extend the opinions (inputs) conveyed here to government stakeholders in the hopes of strengthening the role of RRI in fortifying national resilience in 3T regions," he affirmed.
