Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam, in collaboration with the Cahaya Kasih Serantau Community (CKS), held the Christmas Day and New Year celebration at the embassy's hall on Sunday.

More than 300 Indonesian citizens from various cities in Brunei attended the Christmas Celebration with Indonesian Christians and New Year 2024 at the Indonesian Embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan.

"The spirit of Christmas must be able to be integrated into life and contribute positively to strengthening national values," Indonesian Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Achmad Ubaedillah noted in a written statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan received in Jakarta on Monday.

Ubaedillah expressed hope that the commemoration of 2023 would further strengthen the sense of brotherhood and togetherness among all Indonesians living in Brunei Darussalam.

The commemoration, themed "Glory to Allah and Peace on Earth," also presented various song and dance performances from several Indonesian communities in Brunei as well as cutting tumpeng and drawing lucky draws.

Apart from the Christian community, the event was also attended by officials from the Indonesian Embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan, Indonesian community leaders, and representatives of Indonesian communities, as well as guests from other countries.

The attendees also had the opportunity to fulfill their longing for their homeland by getting to sample Indonesian cuisine, according to the statement.
