"The report, released by the Charities Aid Foundation, places Indonesia at the top of the World Giving Index 2023. Indonesia is seen as a nation that is generous and has high values of mutual cooperation," he stated at the 2nd Indonesian Humanitarian Congress in Jakarta, Thursday.
Subambang remarked that this was proof that there is vast potential in humanitarian management in Indonesia.
"If this potential is managed responsibly, then Indonesia will have resilience and great capital in humanitarian diplomacy," he noted.
Subambang believes that the potential must be welcomed with a shared commitment to maintain public trust. Transparent and accountable governance must draw attention.
"There must be no violations or crimes and corruption in the name of humanity," he stressed.
Hence, to this end, Subambang remarked that currently, the government is building adaptive social protection through integration of the three main components of social protection, climate change adaptation, and disaster risk reduction.
He affirmed that an adaptive social protection framework will help individuals, households, or communities to build resilience in various risks, whether caused by natural, non-natural, or climate change, which can create national resilience.
"National resilience also involves inclusive humanitarian aspects. Protection of vulnerable groups, such as children, women, people with disabilities, and the elderly, must be the main focus," he emphasized.
Subambang stated that the collaborative space for government and non-government bodies is wide open to address the issue of the national humanitarian crisis.
"The private sector and organizations are not only supporters but (also) equal partners with the government that contribute to Indonesia's vision of sustainable development," he explained.
Hence, Subambang commended the efforts of the Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Human Initiative and the Indonesian Development and Humanitarian Alliance (APKI) in holding the 2nd Indonesian Humanitarian Congress in increasing mutual concern in building humanitarian awareness.
He expressed hope that the activity can produce recommendations that support sustainable improvement of national resilience in facing humanitarian crises.
