Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Association of Indonesian Village Government Apparatus (Papdesi) has asked President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) about the progress of the revision to Law No. 6 of 2014 on Village during their meeting in Jakarta on Friday.

"We asked him directly about the progress of the law revision," said Senthot Rudi Prastiono, Papdesi Secretary General, after the meeting.

The meeting was also attended by representatives from the East Java Association of Village Heads (AKD) and the Association of Village Governments (Apdesi).

According to Prastiono, during the meeting, Jokowi said that the revision to the law is being processed in parliament.

The president expressed hope that after the House of Representatives' (DPR's) recess period ends, the revised law would be ratified without delay, Prastiono said.

"Our aspiration is the revision to the law to be ratified. It has been discussed in the DPR Legislation Body and by the government. The president also issued a letter regarding this," he said.

He also said that they did not discuss politics with Jokowi during the meeting.

The village heads are only interested in the peaceful implementation of elections up to the village level next year, Prastiono added.

Earlier, the DPR and Apdesi agreed to form a joint working group to coordinate and discuss the substances contained in the law revision.

"We will form a joint working group between the DPR and representatives of village head associations to discuss the village law revision draft," DPR Speaker Puan Maharani said early this month.
