This shows that we will continue to move swiftly in 2024 with the groundbreaking to realize Nusantara as a green and smart city.Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) has said that 15 domestic investors will hold groundbreaking ceremonies for several projects in Indonesia's new capital, Nusantara, early next year.
"In 2024, we will start the year with groundbreaking that will likely be carried out between January and February," deputy for financing and investment at OIKN, Agung Wicaksono, said at an online media briefing, which was followed from here on Friday.
Wicaksono underlined that the groundbreaking of several projects in early 2024 is part of efforts and a commitment to develop the new capital as a green and smart city.
"This shows that we will continue to move swiftly in 2024 with the groundbreaking to realize Nusantara as a green and smart city," he said.
A total of 15 parties are planning to carry out groundbreaking ceremonies at the beginning of next year. They come from within the country and comprise state institutions, a consortium, a foundation, and private investors.
The groundbreaking ceremonies will be of two types: those for environmentally friendly projects (green projects) and those carried out by private investors and state institutions.
Among the green projects, the groundbreaking for a botanical garden project will be carried out by the Nusantara Consortium. In addition, the Orang Utan Sanctuary Island will be launched by the Arsari Djojohadikusumo Foundation.
Meanwhile, some state institutions will carry out groundbreaking ceremonies for the construction of their offices, including the Financial Services Authority (OJK), the Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS), Bank Mandiri, state-run electricity company PLN, and the Healthcare and Social Security Agency (BPJS Kesehatan).
Some private parties who will conduct groundbreaking ceremonies include private bank Bank Central Asia (BCA) for its office construction; Ciputra Group for the construction of green housing, a hotel, and a golf course; and Jambuluwuk for hotel construction, among others.
Law Number 3 of 2022 on Capital City states that the development of the new capital will be an economic driver for Kalimantan and a catalyst for strengthening the domestic value chain throughout the eastern part of Indonesia.
The development of Nusantara will place Indonesia in a more strategic position in terms of world trade routes, investment flows, and technological innovation.
