Muhammad, in a press release received here on Tuesday (January 2, 2024), stated that the success of the election and national development that advances people's prosperity are two of his three aspirations for Indonesia for this year.
"Firstly, Indonesia must be able to ensure that the concurrent elections in February and September 2024 take place smoothly, successfully, orderly, and safely. Another important point is that there must be no violation of the process," he added.
Secondly, it is hoped that the election victory would have a good influence on the nation's growth, including measures to enhance people's welfare, he added.
Lastly, it is expected that a large amount of investment would flow into Indonesia and increase economic growth, he said.
He added that the issue of equitable development will also be crucial in the process of boosting national economic growth.
"Economic growth must also be balanced between the western and eastern regions of Indonesia since the eastern region has great potential and is able to contribute greatly to the country," Muhammad explained.
Based on the decision of the General Elections Commission (KPU), the presidential election and the election of legislative members will take place simultaneously on February 14.
The campaigning period has been set from November 28, 2023, to February 10, 2024, which will be followed by a period of calm on February 11–13.
Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka, and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD are the three presidential-vice presidential candidates in the fray for the 2024 election.
