According to Mellaz, the JCC was chosen owing to the availability of the venue and the familiarity. Moreover, the second debate between the vice presidential candidates on December 22, 2023, was held at the same location.
The KPU announced the names of the 11 debate panelists who have confirmed their readiness to take part in the debate and were quarantined two days before the debate, started on Friday (January 18).
The panelists chiefly constituted academics and practitioners who were members of civil society organizations. The series of debates is part of the 2024 presidential election campaign hosted by the KPU.
The fourth KPU debate will feature three vice presidential candidates namely Muhaimin Iskandar, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, and Mahfud MD.
This debate will raise issues of natural resources, indigenous communities, the environment, energy, and agrarian affairs.
