Bogor (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) invited President of Tanzania Samia Suluhu Hassan to plant a tree as a symbol of peace at the Bogor Presidential Palace in West Java on Thursday.

The planting of the tree, known as the Barringtonia asiatica tree in Latin, was carried out on the sidelines of President Hassan's state visit at the Bogor Palace.

The Presidential Secretariat in Bogor stated that the activity is one of the routine agendas of President Jokowi while receiving a state visit from another head of state at the Bogor Palace.

The planting procession was also a symbol of commitment between two countries to make environmental care movements.

After planting the tree, the two leaders are scheduled to have a one-on-one meeting in the veranda of the palace before holding a bilateral meeting in the Oval Room.

According to the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the visit, President Hassan and President Jokowi will discuss the continuation of cooperation between the two countries.

Her visit was also made in response to Jokowi's state visit to Tanzania in August last year.

Earlier, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, Pahala Mansury, also received a visit from Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation of Tanzania, January Makamba, on Tuesday.

The meeting focused on discussing preparations for President Hassan's visit to Indonesia, scheduled for January 24-26, 2024.

The bilateral meeting marks the first meeting since January following Makamba's appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation of Tanzania on September 1, 2023.

During the visit, President Hassan will be accompanied by three ministers and 131 business delegates from various sectors. These business delegates will attend the Tanzania-Indonesia Business and Investment Forum on January 25 at Mulia Hotel, Jakarta.

This forum is a result of cooperation with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin).

Several potential collaborations in the fields of trade, investment, oil and gas, minerals, energy, blue economy, and development cooperation were discussed during the meeting between the vice minister of foreign affairs of Indonesia and the foreign minister of Tanzania.
