During an official visit of Timor-Leste Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, Friday, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) stated the two had discussed several matters, including the agreement to encourage the settlement of border negotiations between the two countries.
After holding a bilateral meeting with PM Gusmao, President Jokowi welcomed the reactivation of the joint committee for the management of the land borders of Indonesia and Timor-Leste, including cross-border posts.
Second, Jokowi praised Timor-Leste's trust in Indonesian state-owned companies that have handled several projects, such as road construction in Oecusse, and the expansion of Presidente Nicolau Lobato International Airport in Dili.
The president also witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on information technology cooperation.
"We also encourage cooperation in telecommunications infrastructure, including the fiber optic investment plan," Jokowi remarked.
