Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Health Ministry is planning to place all community health centers (puskesmas) in Indonesia on standby and operational round the clock on February 14 of 2024, the voting day of the 2024 General Elections.

"We will put all puskesmas on standby for 24 hours during the election day under a coordinated mechanism," Health Ministry's Director of Primary Health Care, Obrin Parulian, remarked during an event that was followed online in Jakarta on Monday.

He elaborated on the mechanism, saying that coordination is vital to ensure the availability of ambulances at puskesmas to transfer patients to hospitals as well as the readiness of an emergency call center.

"A 119 emergency call center will be on standby. We will also ensure the preparedness of ambulances and patient referral systems," he pointed out.

He then noted that Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin had signed and issued a circular letter outlining support from all health stakeholders for the holding of this year's elections. (INE) Related news: Pangkep KPU uses 6 ships for election logistics delivery to islands
