The General Elections Commission (KPU) Office of Natuna District, Riau Island Province, is placing focus on distribution of the 2024 General Elections logistics to election committees stationed in the district's outermost regions.
Natuna District is located on Natuna Islands, one of Indonesia's northernmost regions that shares borders with the South China Sea and waters of several countries, including Malaysia.
"We are focusing on delivering election logistics to the farthest regions," Chairman of Natuna KPU, Kusnaidi, stated via a phone call in Natuna District on Saturday.
He elaborated on the decision, saying that some regions outside the district's capital are located across the sea with high waves, thereby prompting the local KPU to ensure safe distribution of election logistics to such regions.
Kusnaidi then revealed that his office had managed to deliver election logistics to several outermost sub-districts, such as Midai, Suak Midai, Serasan, East Serasan, Panjang Island, Subi, and Laut Island.
"We have delivered the logistics to some of the outermost sub-districts, with Laut Island being the farthest," he remarked.

The official further noted that his office is planning to continue the distribution of election logistics to other sub-districts outside Natuna's capital, namely Seluan, West Bunguran, Tiga Island, and West Tiga Island.
"According to the plan, we will deliver the logistics to those regions tomorrow (February 11)," he remarked.
As for sub-districts in the vicinity of Natuna's capital, he stated that the distribution process will begin on Monday (February 12).
"On Monday, we will focus on sending the logistics to East Bunguran, Northeast Bunguran, Central Bunguran, South Bunguran, and Bunguran Batubi," he pointed out.
He also remarked that the Natuna KPU is collaborating with state-run ferry operator PT Pelni for the distribution of election logistics.
"We delegate the distribution to them (PT Pelni). However, we continue to monitor the process from KPU's warehouse to ones located in each of the sub-districts," he stated.
He remarked that the General Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) and Natuna Resort Police are lending a hand to the KPU to supervise and escort the logistics delivery process.
