Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology expressed support for collaboration between vocational education units and industries in environmental sector development.

The ministry's acting director of partnership and business harmonization in the industrial world, Uuf Brajawidagda, said that the ministry has been striving to eliminate barriers between the industrial world and education through the Merdeka Belajar or Freedom in Learning Program.

"Hopefully, this cooperation will be carried out soon so that it can inspire other industries to contribute to our education units," he added in a statement released by the ministry here on Monday.

In this regard, PT Enerflow Engineering Indonesia and PT Siskindo Utama Dharma have signed a cooperation agreement with several vocational education units such as the Shipbuilding Institute of Polytechnic Surabaya and the Manado State Polytechnic (Polimdo).

In addition, the two industries have also signed a cooperation agreement with the Batam State Polytechnic (Polibatam), Ujung Pandang State Polytechnic (PNUP), and PLN Institute of Technology (ITPLN).

In the first stage, PT Enerflow Engineering will cooperate with the four polytechnics and ITPLN to develop and produce devices for industrial liquid and solid waste treatment systems.

The development and production of the devices will be carried out jointly at teaching factories located in each polytechnic by involving ITPLN.

Meanwhile, the scope of cooperation with PT Siskindo Utama Dharma will be in the form of service, calibration, maintenance, repair governor, and the development of spare parts for the governor.

A governor is a vital tool used to control the operations of generators, turbines, and diesel engines, which can be adjusted manually or automatically.

Director of PT Enerflow Engineering Indonesia and PT Siskindo Utama Dharma, Yunita Fahmi, said that the environment sector can potentially generate jobs in the future.

The collaboration is expected to help each polytechnic produce reliable and competent human resources.
