"We have the TPKS Law as a national strategy for protecting victims and fulfilling their needs in a comprehensive manner. Universities can play a key role by actively sharing the law within the campus environment," she said in a statement from her ministry on Tuesday.
She made the statement during a public lecture at Warmadewa University in Denpasar, Bali, on Monday.
During her speech, Puspayoga hailed universities' role as an intellectual space and highlighted the need to ensure that such a space remains safe and comfortable for everyone, especially women.
She expressed hope for universities to disseminate the TPKS Law by outlining and explaining its points, derivative provisions, and supporting facilities.
She also emphasized the importance of implementing the Education and Culture Minister's Regulation No. 30 of 2021 concerning the prevention and handling of sexual violence in universities.
The regulation provides universities with the legal basis to carry out comprehensive handling of sexual violence cases occurring within their environments, she added.
"We hope that Warmadewa University will take part in the government's efforts to disseminate the TPKS Law, using the Three Pillars of Higher Education as the foundation of collaboration," she said.
Puspayoga also urged higher education institutions to form a task force for preventing and dealing with sexual violence within their environments.
She said that such a task force should make genuine efforts to protect all students from the threat of sexual violence.
