"The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence is a reminder of the importance of a shared platform to build a movement to make a change," she stated during the "Challenges and Opportunities of Sexual Violence Crime Law" webinar here on Wednesday.
Yentriyani remarked that the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence starts every November 25, which is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and ends on December 10, which is Human Rights Day.
"This reminds us that violence against women is inseparable from human rights violations. Therefore, efforts to eliminate violence against women are an inseparable part of fulfilling human rights," she emphasized.
According to Yentriyani, the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence was adopted by her commission in 2001 as a national campaign.

She noted that so far, 119 organizations spread across 21 provinces have participated in the campaign.
She further stated that from 2010 to 2014, the campaign was carried out with the tagline "Recognize and Handle."
Yentriyani said that the campaign contributed to encouraging the issuance of Law Number 12 of 2022 on Sexual Violence Crime.
"It encouraged efforts to create a legal basis, especially for sexual violence to be adopted in the 2014 National Legislative Program, and after that, the 16 days campaign raised the Move Together tagline to ensure the legal basis exists and can be used," she explained.
Furthermore, in 2023, the tagline for the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence in Indonesia has been changed to "Move Together, Get to Know the Law, Protect the Victims."
