Jakarta (ANTARA) - Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi expressed hope that the new leader elected in the 2024 General Election would persevere to follow Indonesia's foreign policy principles to ensure diplomatic success continues in future.

The minister also expressed confidence that her successor would continue to adhere to Indonesia's diplomacy principles, such as the free and active policy and the spirit of the Bandung Declaration for world peace and cooperation.

"With those principles, we can play our role as the bridge builder as proved during our G20 Presidency and the ASEAN Chairmanship," Marsudi stated after casting her vote in Depok, West Java, Wednesday.

The Foreign Ministry, with its firmly established ecosystem, is committed to assisting the future leadership in conducting diplomacy with other countries and international organizations, she affirmed.

"As our bureaucracy system is strong, and the system is steady, God Willing, the Foreign Ministry is ready all-in-all," the minister stated.

Marsudi also expressed hope that Indonesia's new leader would lead the nation forward to achieve the Golden Indonesia vision by 2045 and will always uphold the interest of the people.

More than 204 million Indonesian voters cast their vote on February 14 to elect the president and vice president, members of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Regional Representatives Council (DPD), and regional legislatures (DPRD) at the provincial, city, and district levels.
