Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-owned power company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PT PLN) has claimed success in securing power supply during the February 14, 2024, elections.

PLN president director Darmawan Prasodjo said that the company set up 1,853 election standby posts in all regions, which were supported by 80 thousand personnel who remained on standby round the clock to secure electricity supply.

The standby posts supported the technical and operational needs of the elections, and the PLN personnel were prepared to quickly respond to any emergencies.

“In this party of democracy, PLN was all out (in its service) and contributed to the success of the elections from the day of the voting until the vote recapitulation process. PLN constantly monitored its electrical system so that the 2024 Elections could run smoothly,” Prasodjo informed in a statement received in Jakarta on Monday.

In the provinces of South and Central Kalimantan, PLN assigned standby personnel to 428 locations, such as the offices of the General Election Committee (KPU), the General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu), Sub-District Voting Committee (PPK), and other related offices and institutions.

In the provinces of South, Southeast, and West Sulawesi, PLN deployed 2,755 personnel at 136 standby posts. PLN also prepared electric vehicles, which were used as operational vehicles, as part of an effort to control, monitor, and assess electrical installations at several vital election locations.

“Every hour, we monitored the electricity supply to ensure its safety. All mobile substation units (UGB) and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) were tested for their reliability to conduct the elections,” Prasodjo said.

In the provinces of Riau and Riau Islands, PLN secured the electrical system with the help of 1,245 personnel assigned to 21 standby posts. PLN also provided 123 cars, 105 motorcycles, eight cranes, 16 UGBs, 16 mobile generators, and two UPS devices.

“PLN mapped tens of vital locations, such as provincial KPU offices, District General Election Committee, provincial Bawaslu offices, regional government offices, armed forces and police stations, PPK, and Voting Places (TPS). (We) must ensure electricity supply (in those places),” Prasodjo stated.

“Thus, with PLN’s readiness and commitment, Alhamdulillah (praise be to God), the 2024 Election was conducted without trouble and was safe every step of the way,” he added.

Meanwhile, head of the South Sulawesi General Election Committee, Hasbullah, said that PLN’s support, which ranged from the installation of standby posts to personnel, helped maintain electricity supply successfully at several strategic places, such as the South Sulawesi General Election Committee office and four Voting Places.

“PLN’s readiness and commitment in guarding the 2024 Elections have helped us conduct every step of the elections,” Hasbullah remarked.
