Jakarta (ANTARA) - Progress in development of basic infrastructure for the new capital city (IKN) Nusantara phase 1, with 40 packages, reached 74.87 percent until February 15, 2024, Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, stated.

"The development progress is right on time with the plan and target set by the government. It is still on schedule," he remarked in Jakarta on Thursday.

His side began building basic infrastructure in IKN since early September of 2022, including connectivity, provision of raw water, sanitation, and government offices in the Central Government Core Area (KIPP).

The construction of basic infrastructure and government buildings at KIPP will become the main capital for building public trust and attracting investors to invest in IKN, he affirmed.

"Some time ago, four series of groundbreakings were carried out by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). For example, office buildings, hospitals, and hotels. We also welcome the audit process of the State Audit Board (BPK) to ensure that all activities at IKN are carried out with good governance," Hadimuljono stated.

Meanwhile, Head of the Task Force (Kasatgas) for IKN Infrastructure Development, Danis Sumadilaga, stated that the IKN construction will be divided into two batches until the end of 2024.

He noted that construction for batch 1 had been underway for 40 work packages, with physical progress having reached 74.87 percent as of February 15, 2024. Meanwhile, construction for batch 2 is ongoing for 49 work packages, with progress at 24 percent. For a total of 89 running packages, the allocated budget is worth Rp68.57 trillion.

"Ahead of Indonesia's Independence Day commemoration at IKN on August 17 this year, almost all of the infrastructure is included in the batch 1. For example, the (development progress of) President's Office Building, State Palace, and Ceremonial Field have reached 56.37 percent. Meanwhile, the progress (in development) of the President's Office has reached 74.94 percent," Sumadilaga noted.

Furthermore, construction of the toll road as the main access to IKN is currently underway at three sections, namely the Karangjoang-KKT Kariangau 3A Section, with a length of 13.4 kilometers and progress at 70.9 percent; KKT Kariangau-Simpang Tempadung 3B Section, with a length of 7.3 kilometers and progress at 70 percent; and Simpang Tempadung-Pulau Balang 5A Section, spanning 6.7 kilometers long, with progress of 77.8 percent.

"We are also preparing 47 residential towers for members of the Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI), National Police (Polri), and state civil apparatus (ASN). God willing, the 12 residential towers will be completed and furnished in July 2024," he revealed.
