Ratna Oeni Cholifah, the ministry’s Assistant Deputy for Special Needs Children Protection, called for collaboration among relevant agencies for the protection of the Baduy children.
The effort is a concrete step in ensuring the fulfillment of rights and the special protection of children from minority groups, she added.
According to Government Regulation Number 78 of 2021 on Special Protection for Children, having access to facilities and infrastructure to enjoy culture, recognizing and following religion, and using their own language are forms of protection for children from minority groups, Cholifah said.
Protection efforts also aim to ensure that children are free from abusive, discriminatory, or other unlawful behavior, including harmful work and child marriage.
Parents, society, and officials at Kanekes village in Lebak district must ensure that children enjoy their rights and are protected from all forms of abuse, she said.
“Surely, it is all done by considering the traditions and cultures preserved by the Outer Baduy ethnic group,” she stated.
