Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology stated that the opening of an applied doctoral education program aims to produce applied research and innovation in accordance with the needs of the industrial world.

The ministry's Acting Director of Institutions and Resources for Vocational Higher Education, Muhamad Fajar Subkhan, emphasized the need for collaboration with the industry for the applied doctoral programs.

"The presence of the applied doctoral program does not only aim to encourage human resources with high qualifications but is also able to encourage the progress of the national industry," he noted in a statement from his office on Wednesday.

According to Subkhan, the industrial sector needs applied research to solve complex problems. Hence, applied doctoral programs at vocational universities can support the industry by producing competent graduates.

In its implementation, the applied doctoral program will include collaboration with the industrial world to focusing the research's topics on industrial problems, he explained.

"If an academic doctorate produces scientific novelty, then an applied doctorate is required to produce applied research with elements of novelty and innovation to solve industrial problems," he remarked.
