According to data from Trade Map, France’s textile imports from Indonesia during the January-November 2023 period reached US$194 million.Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Trade recorded potential temporary transactions of US$20 million, or approximately Rp312 billion, for Indonesia’s textile products for the next year.
The value was obtained from Indonesia’s involvement in Texworld Paris held on February 5-7, 2024, in Porte Des Versailles, Paris, France.
Paris Trade Attaché Ruth Joanna Samaria in a statement released by Indonesian Embassy in Paris, Thursday, stated that Indonesia is the only ASEAN country featured at the event.
“We see that Indonesia’s participation in Texworld Paris, as one of the world’s main garment producers is essential, especially when (our) main competitor from the ASEAN is not present. Thus, Indonesia should be able to seize the opportunity and feature flagship products to customers,” Samaria emphasized.
Samaria stated that Indonesia’s participation in the exhibition is concrete proof of the government’s support in promoting Indonesia’s textile products on the global stage. Indonesia sent five textile companies for the event that managed to secure 500 customers from England, Spain, Germany, Belgium, Canada, India, Greece, and Turkey.
Apart from presenting garment products, an Indonesian participant was able to feature products with the latest environmentally-friendly innovations, such as products with Better Cotton Initiative (BCI), ISO 9002, and ISO 14001 certifications.
Meanwhile, Texworld Paris' organizers stated that 60 to 90 percent of customers who bought textiles and clothing at the event tended to request environmentally-friendly fabrics, fibers, and threads.
According to data from Trade Map, France’s textile imports from Indonesia during the January-November 2023 period reached US$194 million. Some of France’s other textile exporters are Vietnam, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and India.
“With Indonesia’s success in the 2024 Texworld, the Embassy of Indonesia in Paris invites other related ministries to bring together more Indonesian textile companies to feature in the upcoming 2025 Texworld,” Samaria stated.
