Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta provincial government is strengthening synergy among its regional-owned enterprises (BUMDs) to prepare development programs for Jakarta as a global city.

"This initiative aligns with discussions on establishing the Jakarta Special Region," Jakarta secretary Joko Agus Setyono said on Friday.

He said that one of the measures that can support the realization of the Jakarta Global City vision is strengthening the role and contribution of 14 Jakarta BUMDs, including Bank DKI, MRT Jakarta, and bus operator TransJakarta.

More than 50 percent of BUMD shares are owned by the Jakarta provincial government, making it their controlling shareholder.

"Jakarta BUMDs need to continue to increase their synergy with local government organizations, the Jakarta government, and the Regional Public Service Agency (BLUD) and remain agents of development," he said.
